When you hear the word freedom the only meaning that comes to you is being free from something that is ruling over you or choosing what you want without anyone else pressuring you. Some meanings or quotes from famous people about freedom are
James Baldwin said, “Freedom is not something that anybody can be given. Freedom is something people take, and people are as free as they want to be.” Mahatma Gandhi said, “Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.”

The meaning of Freedom can be different for different people but everything comes down to being free from others’ opinions being imposed on you. Human beings have the right to live and to get the necessities of life; all are entitled to justice, honor and dignity. Human welfare signifies not well-being of any particular individual, family, or nation, but the welfare of all people in this world. Everyone seeks for justice but in the modern world which is engaged in violence, even if you ask them why they are spreading bloodshed, they will answer: we are victims of injustice. Give us justice and we will give you peace. ’ This condition for peace is unnatural. It is impossible to achieve justice by fighting for it. In this world, everything follows the laws of nature and the task of achieving justice is no exception.

There are laws for freedom too. But the law for freedom can be made only if the person does not discriminate among men, if the rights of men are justly determined by one who has no personal stake in the matter, who does not associate with the interests of any family, class, country or nation. Just as the crow is black all over the world, human nature is fundamentally the same all over the world. Whether under white skin or black or be it under yellow or brown skin, human beings have the same fundamental needs, impulses and desires. Some basic rules of freedom are love, forgiveness, patience and knowledge. Love as a human ideal, demands that man should love God as the complete embodiment of all moral values above everything else. If you find a piece of paper lying on the road with the name of God written on it, your immediate reaction would be to show your respect and pick up that paper despite the fact that it has dirt of the road on it. Similarly, every human being whether good or bad, has God in his heart. He therefore deserves your love and respect.
Translating the word forgiveness in the Quran, Abdullah Yusuf Ali says “there are three types of forgiveness: one is AFA which means ‘to forget, to obliterate from one’s mind’. The second is SAMAHA which means to ‘overlook, to turn away from, ignore, treat a matter as if it did not affect one’. The most common one is to GHAFARA means to ‘cover up something’ as God does to our sins with his grace. This word is particularly appropriate in God’s attribute of Ghaffar one who forgives again and again. The Arabic word for seeking forgiveness is istighfar. means ‘to forget, to obliterate from one’s mind’. Patience is one of the virtues that Allah (SWT) loves. In times of adversity and in difficulties, if one is injured or insulted by someone, he is required to have patience. Patience is the basic block of freedom. Wisdom alone has been given to men, which even the angels do not possess. Those who do not use intellect given by God are deaf, dumb and blind, no better than the lowest of beasts. The idea of intellect is to differentiate the truth from falsehood. As a basic value for man, wisdom means knowledge of fact, ideals and values. To achieve freedom, we should gain self-discipline in ourselves. Lack of self-discipline is the cause of most of our sorrows and troubles. That is why restlessness and lack of peace of heart characterize the modern man. He requires moral change and disciplined life to find a relevant place in the modern world. A self-discipled person is not jealous, he does not hate, he is not afraid of anyone except God. In other words, he has control over himself. This quality in a person develops the personal power in him. In conclusion, freedom too has rules and regulations and it does not mean to be free from everything, it means to have your own opinions together with the worldly achievements.
