But the pursuit of peace in the external world and seeking it through our Lord do not have to be separate endeavours. Rather everything around us is a reminder to remember and connect with Allah.

Amidst the symphony of life’s melodies, peace reveals itself in myriad forms. It may dance in the gentle chirping of birds, or perhaps, it cascades like a tranquil waterfall, its soothing rush weaving through the fabric of existence. Peace, an elusive masterpiece, emerges in the tender cadence of a mother’s voice, a lullaby to the soul. Yet, its essence extends beyond the realms of nature’s embrace.

There is a profound depth to peace that transcends these earthly wonders. A heart that remains mindful of its Creator, Allah, feels at peace like nothing else. A heart that remembers Allah is not only conscious of His existence but also seeks His guidance and protection every step of the way. Our connection to the divine serves as an anchor during times of difficulty, reminding us that we are not alone in our struggles and that there is a higher purpose to our existence. A heart at “Rest”, “Peace”, or “Comfort” is not one free from the gripping worries of the world but rather one that knows it is not alone and is assured to be taken care of. As we seek peace in the world around us, let us not forget the peace that comes from remembering our Creator and finding solace in His presence.

But the pursuit of peace in the external world and seeking it through our Lord do not have to be separate endeavours. Rather everything around us is a reminder to remember and connect with Allah.

As I stand beside a serene waterfall, watching its crystal-clear waters cascade with grace, I am reminded of the Creator’s artistry. In that tranquil moment, I am aware of a greater power at play, a power that nurtures every living being and provides for our needs. This reminder ignites a profound sense of gratitude, and I feel the weight of my worries gently lifted, replaced by a deep sense of peace.

The most beautiful reminder comes at dusk, as the call to prayer, the Maghrib Adhan, echoes through the air. Its melody fills my heart with a sense of awe and devotion. In that sacred moment, the world around me falls silent and is a time for reflection, a time to pause and offer gratitude for the blessings received throughout the day. The Adhan is a reminder that amidst the chaos of life, there is an oasis of peace found in the prayer.
As I traverse through life’s ups and downs, I encounter moments of pain and despair. It is during these challenging times that remembrance becomes my anchor. Turning to Allah, I find strength in knowing that every trial has a purpose, and I am being guided toward growth and resilience. The pain becomes a catalyst for inner transformation, and in that transformation, I uncover a deeper sense of peace.

The laughter of children playing in the park, the fragrance of blooming flowers, the gentle breeze caressing my face—all these moments are invitations to remember the divine.

Now you see, the remembrance of Allah is not confined to grand gestures and formal duties but is woven into the fabric of life’s most ordinary moments. The chirping birds, the gentle waterfall, the voice of a loved one, the melody of the Maghrib Adhan,—each offers a glimpse into the divine, inviting us to experience peace in all its simplicity and complexity. As I continue my journey of remembrance, I am grateful for the moments that have shaped me, and I strive to be ever-mindful of the peace that surrounds me, both within and without.

The protection it offers from negativity is among the fundamental benefits associated with remembering Allah. Dhikr serves as a protective barrier against outside influences and diversions. It fortifies our spiritual defenses, making it simpler to withstand temptations and vices. Remembrance causes us to become more resilient in overcoming obstacles in life and leaves less area for negativity to grow in our hearts and minds.
Additionally, remembering Allah gives us power. It serves as a reminder of Allah’s omnipotence and mastery over everything. This realization gives us the confidence and faith we need to overcome hardship and believe in Allah’s plan. We gain courage from the knowledge that there is a higher purpose to our life and that every struggle and adversity is a part of it by remembering the Creator.

The practice of Dhikr helps us become aware of our flaws and misdeeds. It becomes a chance to turn around and ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy. We have access to a fresh start and a refreshed sense of spiritual purity by confessing our sins to the Creator and asking for His pardon.

Along with being uplifting, dhikr is essential for cleaning our souls. The act of remembering Allah aids in separating our hearts and minds from negative forces in a world where diversions and worldly attachments are commonplace. It helps us become more aware of Allah’s presence in our life, which enables us to align our intents and deeds to His will.

Remembrance of Allah wipes out sins. As mentioned in the hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah who reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “The son of Adam never acts with a deed better to save him from the punishment of Allah than with the remembrance of Allah.” [al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ lil-Ṭabarānī 2296]

In the end, consistent remembrance helps us to grow in our belief (iman). It consistently strengthens our faith in Allah and His place in our life. Our faith is firmly established as we immerse ourselves in the act of remembering Allah, and our relationship with Him grows stronger. This unwavering trust gives us a solid basis to stand on when faced with life’s uncertainties and brings about a deep sense of tranquillity.

All these interconnected benefits culminate in a transformational journey towards peace—both within ourselves and in our surroundings. Peace, in this context, is not merely the absence of conflict but a deep and enduring sense of tranquillity and contentment that radiates from the heart.

Surely, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find peace. {Surah Ar Ra’d – 28}
