Yes, people on the earth as well as on other planets require the light of Allah to see things using their internal and external eyes.
We don’t know whether there are creatures on other planets as the matter is still being discussed by scientists.

One day I asked my students in the class: Even though we have healthy eyes, why do we not see anything when there is a power outage?

After a minute of silence, they said it is the reflection of light on things that helps us see them.

Through this natural phenomenon, the Almighty teaches us two things:

1) Although we talk about our eyes with authority we don’t have any control over them.

2) As our external eyes require light for seeing things, our internal eyes require external light.

This has been mentioned in Verse 35 of Surah 24 of the Holy Qur’an:
“Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth.”

Yes, people on the earth as well as on other planets require the light of Allah to see things using their internal and external eyes.

We don’t know whether there are creatures on other planets as the matter is still being discussed by scientists.

The headline of an editorial published by Madhyamam Malayalam daily on June 14, 2023 was “Whom should we give priority, human beings or dogs?”

After reading the editorial I thought I should write a note on the issue. Children and the old across the country suffer due to the attacks of stray dogs. Many have lost their precious lives.

Government officials have suggested that sterilization is the permanent solution to the stray dog problem.
The law also demands we have to rehabilitate such dogs and protect their rights.

At the same time, we have not heard any official response on homeless people sleeping along the streets without having any food. Panchayats and other local administrative bodies which have failed to rehabilitate or feed the poor on the road have been asked to build cages for the tens of thousands of stray dogs and provide them. We don’t know whether this will work out in our country.

The Holy Qur’an has spoken 1400 years ago about the danger posed by rulers who have lost their inner sight:”There are some hypocrites who impress you with their views regarding worldly affairs and openly call upon Allah to witness what is in their hearts, yet they are your worst adversaries.
And when they get power, they strive throughout the land to spread mischief in it and destroy crops and cattle. Allah does not like mischief.”
(Qur’an 2:204, 205)

This is what the world is experiencing now. There is a clear answer for whether we should give top priority to humans or dogs. The Qur’an says in Verse 70 of Surah 17:
“We have certainly honoured the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.”

In Verse 29 of Surah 2, the Qur’an says:
“He is the One Who created everything on the earth for you.”

Allah has created all living and nonliving creatures for the benefit of human beings and for serving them.

We need more Parliamentarians having inner sight powered by the divine light in order to make the right decisions and legislations that would be beneficial to humans and ensure their welfare and well-being.
