Ramadan is a month of blessings. It is the month to revive and rejuvenate our imaan. I remember when I was a child, my mother used to encourage me in some or the other way to fast and offer taraweeh as much as I could. The thought of getting applauded and gifts from my parents encouraged me to fast.

So, I did not want my 4 year old son to miss out on a similar experience. Ramadan is a special guest which arrives once in a year, and we must make sure that we, along with our family, make best use of it.

I wanted my son to be involved in this Ramadan by making a Ramadan calendar for him. I hoped this would be both exciting and interesting for him.

This calendar has some easy tasks mentioned in it. Each day, one task is given. The kid has to pick up one chit daily and read the task.

Once the task is done, the kid will be awarded with chocolate, card, toys or anything which pleases him as a token of love and appreciation.

This way, he will be able to do 30 tasks in 30 days, and he will be able to learn many new things in a fun and exciting way. The tasks can be as follows – memorization of the shortest surah from Quran, putting a coin in the charity box,  sending iftaar to the  neighbour, keeping toys in the toy box without being reminded to do so, helping mother in household chores, etc.

After every task, the child should be encouraged by mentioning that Allah will also give him immense amount of ajr on the Day of Judgment.

It is in our hands to teach our children about the deen in an interesting and easy way so that they are always ready to know more about it.
