Now come on all of you. Give one sentence in simple present tense starting with ‘I’. Our teacher said after explaining the grammar rules. Each one stood up and gave sentences like: “I am a student.”; “I am a girl.”; “I am a girl.” etc. Now it’s my turn. I stood up with the hope that my teacher will appreciate me more. I started: “I is…” The teacher said “No. You can’t say “I is”. You have to say “I am”. Again I started saying “I is”. The teacher stopped me again and gave a lecture on developing listening skills. She asked me to write 10 times all the sample sentences given by other students in the class. I wrote them all. Finally, I wrote mine too which my teacher didn’t allow me to complete. “I is the ninth letter in the English alphabet.”
