The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “People whose hearts are like the hearts of birds will enter Paradise.”

{Source: Sahih Muslim 2840}

Al-Nawawi said, “It is interpreted to mean they are those who rely upon Allah, or those who have soft hearts.” {Source: Riyad al-Salihin 1/45}

Deep down this soul yearns to be a full-fledged sparrow or Finch,
More than just to be as free as her,
I aspire to have diligence and untired spirit they have,
In setting their naturally learned art,
From straw and whit.
Unlike us,
Exhausted spirit and lethargic bone,
With zero curiosity towards things we own.

This heart is setting on to seek the tenderness they carry,
When they display in feeding hatchlings,
Yet brave and strong in storm and gale.
Unlike us,
Full of egos and pride in vein,
Or living with fear of losing a tiny brain.

Oh! how grateful these creatures are,
When they spot and pick a grain of maize and millet,
They return to their home,
With unity, songs, happiness and peace,
Getting out of their nest carrying faith and trust at next dawn,
Unlike us,
Running in a blind contest and race,
Thirsting for blood and more space,
With absolute disgraceful mind and face,
Still do not belong to a pleasant place!

Deep down this soul yearns to be a full-fledged sparrow or Finch!
